$5 dollars for 6th & 7th grade art material fee or $10 dollars for 8th semester art material fee to be paid via cash, check, or money order to LMHS. 3 pencils (#2) and 1 eraser Suggested Supplies: Disinfectant wipes Tissues 1 roll duct tape Fine tip /ultra fine sharpie Assessment & Grading: Production/ Creating: 50% Classwork/ Practice: 20% Sketchbooks: 20% Quizzes / Homework: 10% Makeup work/ late work policy: If you miss class or need more time to meet a deadline it is the student’s responsibility to communicate concerns to Mrs. Jones. Assignments not turned in will earn an E. All assignments can be turned in before the close of the 9-weeks for a late grade. Dates are outlined below with sketchbook checks. After and before school times can be scheduled as well as working lunches. If an extenuating circumstance occurs please inform Mrs. Jones to work out details. Art Department Wish List: The Art Department at Lynnhaven Middle can use supplies that you may have and no longer need. We welcome contributions of any of the following: tissues, paper towels mat board scraps of any size disinfectant wipes/ Wet wipes Ziploc storage baggies assorted sizes any craft, art paper, scrapbook paper, etc. plastic and glass small containers ex. baby jars, sour cream containers cleaned with lids small wood scraps for sculpture bases extra paper/plastic plates for paint trays plastic trays for paint palettes ribbons, buttons, findings, fabric scraps newspapers, magazines You may send these items to school with your child or leave them in the main office labeled “Mrs. Jones - Art” Thank you for your support of our program. |

Students will explore a variety of media and techniques to create 2- and 3-dimensional works of art. Students will examine the importance of art in their own and other societies as well as explore artmaking processes that emphasize the understanding of enduring ideas and concepts about art and the world. 7th Grade Fine Art This 9-week course focuses on the study of aesthetics, art criticism, art history, and art production. Studio skill development and building a knowledge-base about the artmaking process is emphasized through a variety of media and techniques. Students will examine more in-depth the importance of art in their own and other societies, as well as explore 2- and 3-dimensional artmaking processes that emphasize the understanding of ideas and concepts about art and the world. 8th Grade Fine Art Art 8: Semester This semester course focuses on the study of aesthetics, art criticism, art history, and art production. Studio skill development and building a knowledge base about 2- and 3-dimensional artmaking processes are emphasized through a variety of media and techniques. Students will begin to develop their artistic voice and style of art production. Students will examine Western and nonWestern art to determine influences various cultures have had upon one another. The impact of technology on historic and current art forms is also examined. Advanced Art 8: Full Year or Semester (depending on year and scheduling) Prerequisite: Successful completion of Art 6 and Art 7 and/or submission of portfolio of work approved by the Art teacher. This year-long course focuses on the study of aesthetics, art criticism, art history and art production through universal concepts and enduring ideas. The primary goal of the course is to develop the students’ artistic voice/vision and to expand students’ knowledge and skill development in both 2- and 3-dimensional media. The course will focus on developing more advanced applications of ideas, materials, and techniques, as well as the application of technology in the artmaking process. Students will examine global art and issues to learn how art relates to the world around them. . |
